Located in the heart of the East Village, Little Tong Noodle Shop pays homage to the beautiful Chinese southwest province of Yunnan. Chef Simone Tong created a menu to reflect the depth of Chinese culture, focusing on mixian, a spaghetti-shaped rice noodle that she uses as a base for a variety of broths and sauces. These savory, flavorful dishes showcase local, seasonal ingredients and are inspired by the villages and multi-ethnic regions of southwest China. If you’re a huge fan of noodle soups like ramen, udon, or pho, be prepared to fall head over heels for mixian as well:

Beef Tartare
Sichuan Butter, Crispy Bun

Probably one of the more Western-influenced dishes on the menu, Little Tong takes its own spin on the classic Beef Tartare. Paired with crispy pancakes rather than the conventional bread and served with a smoky sauce and Sichuan butter, this dish cohesively fuses together Eastern and Western flavors in an unexpected fashion.

Pork Chao Shou
Hometown Style Wonton

If you’re a fan of wontons, then the Pork Chao Shou is a must-order. Little Tong serves their version of this classic Chinese dish in an amazing sweet and spicy chili vinaigrette. Don’t be surprised if you end up wanting to drink this magical sauce from the bowl – five wontons just aren’t enough!

Little Pot Mixian
Pork Broth, Minced Pork Belly, Shiitake, Garlic Chives,
Pickled Mustard Stems, Pea Shoots, Chili Vinaigrette

A signature dish on the menu, the Little Pot Mixian is the ultimate bowl of comforting noodles. Served in a light and flavorful pork broth with an added pleasant tangy-ness from the pickled greens, these chewy rice noodles are authentic and are sure to bring you a taste of home.

Mala Dandan Mixian
Ground Pork, Ya Cai, Pickled Celery and Mustard Seeds,
Green Peppercorn Oil, Peanuts, Baby Mustard Greens

If you’re a fan of Sichuan’s signature spice, the Mala Dandan Mixian will quickly become your new favorite. Its flavors are very well-balanced and the spicy ma is luckily not too overpowering, leaving just the right amount of numbing effect on your tongue. A few slurps and all of your spring allergies will be cleared away!
